Back to Amsterdam – an hour of magnificent music with an invited speaker.
LUDWIG is greatly honoured to be giving the 4 May concert in the main auditorium at the Concertgebouw, performed after the two minutes’ silence on Amsterdam’s Dam Square marking the Netherlands’ annual Remembrance of the Dead. An hour of magnificent music, often with an invited speaker, links the event to the next day’s celebration of the Netherlands’ liberation from wartime occupation on 5 May 1945. Jules Schelvis, a Dutch survivor of the Sobibor extermination camp, died on 3 April last year. During the 4 May concert, Dutch actor Hans Kesting will read from the closing chapters of Schelvis’s book Ooggetuigen van Sobibor (‘Eyewitnesses of Sobibor’). LUDWIG will play three related masterpieces.
