Laurens Otto

Biography

Laurens Otto studied French Horn at the Rotterdam Conservatory with Martin van de Merwe and Bob Stoel. He participated in masterclasses by Ab Koster, Peter Damm and Hermann Baumann, a.o. He plays natural horn in specialized ensembles such as the Erard Ensemble and the van Swietensociety and he has a great affinity with contemporary music. He has premiered solo works by Patrick van Deurzen, Rocco Havelaar, Ron Ford and Luc Brewaeys. He gave master classes at the conservatories of Tbilisi, Saint Petersburg, Buenos Aires and Joao Pessoa. In 2003 he joined the Radio Symphony Orchestra, now the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. Since January 2018 he has been permanent member with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra in his birthtown where he will be teaching main subject horn from 2021-22 at the CODARTS conservatory.
