Features of everyday life in a far-from-everyday programme on Tuesday 23 September 2014, 8.15 p.m., Civic Hall, Hilversum Town Hall.
Nadia Wijzenbeek, organizer of the Town Hall Concerts, asked LUDWIG for a programme to open the 2014-15 season in style – something with mainly percussion, but not too many instruments, and suitable for the Civic Hall. The idea was appealing, because the venue has splendid acoustics and the whole building calls for all the senses to be stimulated. The programme you will hear in Huis, Tuin & Keuken (‘Everyday life’, a reference to Cage’s Living Room Music) focuses on the acoustic capabilities of the Town Hall. Most of the percussion instruments have been assembled for the occasion from what can be found in the building and its immediate surroundings.
Huis, Tuin & Keuken is not an everyday programme, but an invitation to listen closely – as usual, with LUDWIG not everything is as it seems…
