The St Matthew Passion for the next generation
Kinder Mattheüs (Matthew for children) is a multidisciplinary performance for young people aged six and over. The monumental story of the gospel according to St Matthew is used to introduce audiences to Johann Sebastian Bach’s St Matthew Passion. The masterpiece has been shortened, but remains intact. The result is a one-hour performance that not only presents Bach’s magnificent music, but is also exciting and surprising to watch. The performance is accompanied by a detailed digital teaching package.
School performance
The school performance of St Matthew for children is slightly adapted version of the public performance. It is shorter (45 minutes), and the interactive element is larger because pupils are prepared in the classroom for their parts in the performance.
