Lidy Blijdorp is a young, passionate cellist with enormous narrative power, praised for her ‘breathtaking musicality’ (Amsterdamse Cellobiennale). She graduated cum laude from Amsterdam and Paris conservatory, and received her Artist Diploma at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. She studied with Monique Bartels, Michel Strauss and Gary Hoffman.
Blijdorp plays regularly in the Netherlands, as well as abroad. She gave recitals in New York, France, Switserland and Japan. In Madrid she gave a Beethoven-recital with Maria João Pires (Auditorio Nacional).
As a soloist she has played with various orchestras, including the State Hermitage Orchestra (Hermitage Theater, St. Petersburg, 2013), the Liège Philharmonic Orchestra (Flagey, Brussels; Salle Philharmonique, Liège, 2014), Netherlands Wind Ensemble (2016, Vredenburg), the Orchestra of the 18th Century (2017) and the Orkest van het Oosten (2018).
Blijdorp has the honour to play on the Italian Farotti of Anner Bylsma.
